Friends of Internationals began as an international college ministry but has grown to include so much more. FOI exists to provide an opportunity for internationals living in the Mobile, Alabama area to make friends with people from around the world.

International students, families and single adults are invited to participate in a wide array of activities designed to help them build lasting friendships and become involved in the local cross cultural community.
- There are over 1,200 international students at the University of South Alabama representing over 100 different nations in all. USA's high percentage of international enrollment places it among the nations top 20 schools.
- More than 200 Refugees from across the globe were relocated to Mobile last year. Mobile, AL is the only designated point of relocation in the state for those who are forced to leave their home countries due to war, famine or persecution.
- Since Mobile is a port city, there are several international companies that choose to make Mobile their home. They bring with them hundreds of international employees who also make Mobile their home.
Jim and Mary Mather began leading Friends of Internationals in July of 1998. Prior to this time the Mather Family lived in Northern Pakistan helping to establish and direct an eye hospital there. Their experience in Pakistan helped them develop an understanding of the importance of hospitality in adjusting to a different culture and lifestyle.
All Nations Community Church was started in January 2009 as an outgrowth of this ministry. Jim Mather is now the Lead Pastor of ANCC. David Chavali is the campus director of FOI and Jeri Stroade directs the refugee services arm of FOI.
